  • if you want to impress, antiques are a very efficient way, especially because people have a very good reaction to the remainders of the past
  • antiques are different from the objects we use today; most of the times, a tea spoon has beautiful engravings, a painting has a very nice hand-made frame and the furniture is a real work of art
  • antiques represent a good source of inspiration
  • they give you the opportunity to imagine how people were few centuries ago and to escape from the agitated every day life. Imagine a Sunday morning, with the family or friends around and a good cup of tea served from a tea pot with small and elegant spoons used a century ago - with a small effort and a powerful desire to relax, the small antiques can do the trick
Con: 
  • if you want to expose antiques in your house, you'll have to make sure that you have a special place for them. You'll also need a special sense of esthetics for presenting them, because if you'll gather all the items in a small corner of the room, you'll risk getting a kitsch look, instead of an impressive area with antiques
  • antiques require a lot of attention - it's not very easy to clean up a piece of silvery and it's advisable to speak to a specialist and ask for his opinion if you want to clean a wood frame or a painting
  • antiques are expensive. Important pieces are sold for lots of money. In addition, you'll need extra money to preserve them in good conditions and minor restorations, required with time, can cost you pretty much - if you have the luck to find the right person who can do the operations properly
  • some objects have a strange, specific smell, the smell of closed, tiny spaces
  • if you aren't a real connoisseur, you might end up buying items without a real value
