Computer games for kids

At the first glance on the computer screen, children fall in love with it. After they discover computer gaming, they become addicted. Are computer games safe for children? We'll present the pro and con arguments, you decide what is best for your child.
Pro:
- computer games especially designed for children can help them develop specific skills, can help them exercise problem solving, it makes them pay more attention to details
- some computer games are focused on a particular issue; kids can learn more about the ancient greeks, the flora and variety of anumals of the world, the differences between cultures and so on
- games usually involve solving a problem: the child has to resolve a quiz, ask a frind for help in order to go to the next level; he has to take decisions on his own and support consequences
- computer games can be the starting point of a news friendship, helping the child to socialize better with the kids of his age; there are even computer games for children that must be played in pairs
Con:
- if a child likes a specific game, there is a tiny road to addiction; he or she will ask to spend more time to the computer, in order to finalize a level, to win some extra points and so on; if you won't let him play more, he or she will start begging, crying, yelling or trying other methods to convince you
- children who spend too much time in front of the computer might need glasses after a while
- the "dark" side of the computer games is revealed when children start to preffer the computer game instead of the games in the park; if he or she preffers sitting in front of the computer, insted of running out and playing with other children of the same age, then the effect of computer games is isolation
- the time passes different while gaming, so your kid might easily forget about homework or other duties
