Donating stem cells to a public banking

I'm still balancing around between donating cord blood to a public or a private facity.
Pro:
- it would be an opportunity to help others
- the stem cells could be used to treat many conditions of unrelated donors, including leukemia and various metabolic problems
- I won't have to pay any fees to donate cord blood to a public bank
