Friends or more than friends?

I've been best of friends with a guy for 4 years. He has liked me on and off in those past years, but I have never returned the sentiment. However, in the few months we've started seeing each other, and I'm starting to see a really intense, obsessive side of him that I've never seen before... It looks like we'd have a very difficult time keeping the friendship if I called things off, and a very difficult time moving forward because he's very calculating and to be perfectly honest, I don't want to be in a relationship right now. Should I call things off or give it a shot? HELP!
