Green energy
in
Winds blow stronger, rains make rivers overflow, in some parts of the world it shows for the first time and in others the seasons are all turned around. Can we still save the planet? Recycling is at hand and anyone can do it, we can save energy and avoid unnecessary waists, but what about the green energy?
Pro:
- the sun, the wind and the water are free raw materials. That is why the energy obtained from solar panels or wind engines is cheaper (or it should be)
- green energy (geothermal, wind, and solar power) is environmentally friendly and non-polluting
- it helps increase a nation’s energy independence
- using geothermal water is safer and healthier than using the multi-used and treated water
- alternative energies helps keeping the level of pollution cause by the brown energy lower
- green energy supports emerging technologies that will one day reduce the pricing power of oil
- it's good for the planet because it reduces CO2 and air pollution
- for those who don't want to use green energy or just can't use it, insulating their homes would be the first huge step towards alternative energy.
Con:
- solar panels, wind engines require time and expertise for setting up
- the technology is not cheap enough yet and because of that people tend to think of renewable energy as a backup energy solution, rather than the first choice. But in many countries part of the cost for the installation of a renewable energy system is covered by government subsidies
- the biggest con of all is that there is too much interest in oil and gas because of the huge companies involved and playing actively on the market. The big transactions and the important political negotiations between countries have at least slightest points on the agenda regarding the oil and gas related businesses.
