My husband wants a pet

Lately my husband's time has been eaten up by trivial things and unfortunately it's eating up or financial strength. That latest thing is he wants to sink more money into a pet that will probably die after a year or so, if he's lucky.

I haven't held him back in anything he wants to do, but I've begun to feel forgotten and neglected not to mention the whole issue of money going into this project, the fact that we share a house with someone and it's not our own space, the idea of raising a baby by myself because I'm 32 weeks pregnant and this stupid project has eaten more time that I feel he should be getting ready with me, but he acts like the only thing that matters is the stupid pet.

So i can't decide on how to approach this because from one perspective it's eating up money that we need to be saving and can be used to paying off debt and things like that not to mention the personal effects it is taking on me, but on the other hand I am pregnant, hormonal and can be irrational. He does work hard for what he wants and since he is the only one that works in our family, I feel I shouldn't stand in his way and spoil his dreams.
