Public vs. Private School

I don't know weather to go to private or public high school.

Pro:

Private school

  • I'll get into a really good college
  • I get a chance to "start over"
  • 180 kids in the school, 45 kids in each grade, 7 kids per class
  • The campus, food, etc. are really nice

Public School

  • It is rated above the state average
  • I don't have to play a sport
  • The band program is the SHiT!
  • My friends and boyfriend are there
Con:

Private School

  • I'd be there until about 5 o'clock PM
  • I'd have to play a sport (idk how to play any sports so I'd have to learn)
  • I would have to depend on my parents to get me to school each day
  • There isn't really a band program
  • I don't know anyone there

Public School

  • Frikin ugly-ass school
  • There are 2,000 kids
  • The physical facilities are just plain bad
  • There are some mean-ass kids there.

Con arguments

Expenses?

Private high schools are extremely expensive. If you're doing alright in your current public high school (getting good grades, enjoying the band program etc.) you might want to just tough it out and save your money for a private college. In the long run, going to a college you really like is a better investment than an expensive private high school.

Public School

I went to a public school that was definitely not famed for its academics and gotten into a top 20 university. On a college application, schools care about your grades, but also your extracurriculars and your recommendations. If you know that you're going to get really involved in band and be able to put a lot into it and also get great recommendations from your public school teachers, then go there. But if you feel like you might need all the help you can get getting into a good college, then maybe consider private school and check it out more. What is really important about your high school experience is that you enjoy it.
