Should I go to bartending school?

I am a recent college graduate, but I cannot find a job in my field. No one seems to be hiring. I currently work a retail job working only part time and making nearly minimum wage. I am not to thrilled with the job either. One day I got this idea to become a bartender and so I looked it up online and actually visited a bartending school. The cost is a bit steep, and my student loans are coming up in September. I just wonder if this is something I should do.

Pro:
  • It would give me a skill that I can use all my life.
  • The fee is actually cheaper because it is summer.
  • It would be away to get me out of my current job (which I'm not to thrilled about) and make more money.
  • They say this job is recession proof.
  • I can use this job anywhere in the country.
  • The pay may be much better then the near minimum wage I'm making now.
Con:
  • It cost about $700
  • I am a college graduate with a degree in graphic design, and this job is not even close to related to my field.
  • This may take away money that I would use to pay off my student loans if I didn't get enough hours at my job.
  • I could fail the course.
