Should I stay with my boyfriend?

We've been together for 6ish months. We get along great, but I sometimes question whether he needs me or not since he can be fiercly independent and can be bad about communicating sometimes

-Supportive of my career aspirations-I'm still in grad school and he has been supportive emotionally and financially when necessary
-Understanding of my family situation
-Great sense of humor
-"Gets me"
-Get's along with my friends and takes an interest in their lives
Con:
-He can get very absorbed in his work and not get in contact with people for a few days
-Sometimes it seems like he doesn't need me around
-Not particularly affectionate at times
-Lives in a different cities, can make it hard to meet spotaneously
