Study Abroad in Rome

I was recently offered a scholarship to study abroad in Italy ( a lifelong dream of mine).  The only problem is that the program is next fall (09/09) and I am supposed to graduate this May (05/09).  I will have everything completed to recieve my degree in Education in May.  I could stay in school an extra semester to do the study abroad even though I don't need the classes.  Is it worth it for me to invest the money and delay my teaching career to spend 4 months in Italy? With teaching it would be hard for me to come back from Italy and get a job in the middle of the school year.

Pro:
  • This is a lifelong dream for me
  • It is a "leadership semester" so it would be a good resume booster.
  • I would be able to improve my Italian language skills and work towards becoming fluent
Con:
  • The program is very expensive.
  • I don't need to take the courses.
  • I would be delaying the start of my teaching career
  • I am supposed to go to Italy with my friend this summer.  If I did this program I wouldnt be able to go because I can't afford to fly to Europe twice in one year.  I would be letting my friend down.
