Tell your kid the truth about Santa

in

Santa is a very special character for every child. If you spoil his charm too early or too late, there might be some side effects, so choose your moment very carefully.

Pro:
  • it's better to find out from you, in a trustful atmosphere that to hear this painful truth from a class mate
  • you risk getting caught every time you "deliver" the presents to your kid
  • if the other children know the truth about Santa, then it's better to have a conversation with your kid
  • if you feel like it is the right time for him/her to find out, that do it
  • if you decide not to tell him/her, then you'll have to be extra cautious to avoid being told:"Oh! This is not Santa, it's daddy. I recognize his shoes!"
Con:
  • kids should know as late as possible that Santa Claus is not real
  • you risk loosing the trust of your kid
  • he/she will spread the word to other children
  • if you don't explain him/her that Santa is a part of the magic of Christmas, your kid might be suspicious
  • if you won't tell him, you'll have to be prepared to answer a lot of questions like: Why are there so many Santas, Why some of them are young, Where is Santa coming from, How can you send a letter to Santa Claus
