Work at home
There are people who work better under supervision. The rest of us dream of a boss-less world. Are you one of us or one of them? :))
- you save a lot of time; instead of going to an office and back, you can use this time as an extra period for relaxation, for preparing your family's breakfast, for washing the dishes or cleaning the bedroom; if you include a crazy traffic that you avoid, then work at home is quite a blessing
- the familiar place and the relaxing environment of your home can influence the quality of your work
- you don't have to pay for transport
- if you are having problems socializing with new people or you have a sad history with colleagues, you should consider work at home
- for both employer and employee it's cheaper to work at home. As an employer, you have to insure a proper environment for those who work in an office: proper furniture, cleaning services, security services and so on. As an employee, you have to pay for transport, lunch, clothes suitable for office and more.
- the best thing about work at home is that you can do your job in pijamas or jogging clothes
- women can use their own bathroom (women will understand:) )
- you can use breaks to check on your children's homework, wetting the flowers or feeding and taking care of the animals
- some projects can get really stressing and instead of working eight hours a day, you spend your time until late hours in the night working
- you won't interact too much with colleagues or other people
- if you work all day long, your house will start to feel like a non-stop office, not a home
- many companies pay less for work at home projects
- it is harder to gain the trust of people you hardly see
- some employers ask for video contact, so you might feel uncomfortable revealing some corners of your home
- the stress of the deadlines is even more enhanced
- most of the times there is no one to talk to, beside your adviser or boss. In an office you have the advantage and the chance to learn from more experienced people, while at home you are basically on your own
Pro arguments
trick to get the "office feeling"
When I want to go into the "office mood", I dress up and put on the specific pair of shoes I would wear if I would have to go to an office every day:) It might sound strange, but it works.
Solution to distraction
Try to move the desk away from the window; face it to a wall because windows are "seductive sirens"!
Con arguments
distractions
I'm very tempted to work at home, but work environment offers distractions, especially if you have a family and kids wanting to eat, play, be the center of attention. Maybe fathers could get luckier if mothers take care of the kids while "daddy is working".
problems
I have a problem with going to lunch and having a schedule because I work overtime a lot.

I have been with this guy for about 4 months and things were pretty good until he broke his leg. He became very hard to deal with and started being rude to myself and my children.
